Exclamation HELP!: Amp Installation

I have recently bought an amp and am trying to install it myself. The problem is i can't get the amp wiring through the firewall from my battery :S

I have a 1993 BG astina if anyone could help with pictures or anything as i cannot for the life of me get it through. Or even if there is another way to get the wires through.

Cheers Doogz

Easiest way would be to make a hole in one of the firewall rubber bungs (with scissor or sharp knike), enough for it to pierce the bung, and just feed it into the car. Well thats what I did and would be certain thats what others have done aswell...

Hmm the rubber part that is stopping me from putting it through is packed out with wires already. But are u saying don't cut where the hole is cut on the edge of the rubber part? ?

if it has the loom in it, just use it, but be careful not pierce the loom as you'll start a whole heap of problems!

once you have made a slit in it, with a bit of elbow grease you should be able to feed the cable inside the cabin...

i did this:

get a coat hanger, straighten it out.. now sticky tape the cable to the coat hanger about half way along.. Now poke the coat hanger through one of the rubber bungs. You shouldn't have to make a new slit. Simply force the coat hanger through next to the other wires.. You might have to push pretty hard. It's a tight squeeze.

Once it's through, pull from the other side. The coat hanger will drag the wire through. Then remove the cable from the coat hanger and pull the rest through...

A coat hanger i would never of thought of that. I've been using a piece of stiff nylon rope to try get it through but that alone was to fat. Cheers

I just hope it works cause it is a very tight squeeze

there should be a solid rubber bug elsewhere, usually just below the steering rack, i would rather use that as opposed to going through with the loom.

in case of interference and such.

ok if you go to the drivers side, up high on the firewall there is a bung. i have 2 gauge wiring running through it so i'm sure you can fit yours...

its to the right of the brake fluid, pretty obvious

EDITops this is a BG.. may not be there then

ye davo i used that hole as well its so handy, cus inside on the ac ducting there is hooks LOL and it feeds it right in to the carpet. oh as well as mickey said, the coathanger works great for feeding wire thru anything, b that under carpet, thru unaccesable hollowed walls (as in inside a house) n sht like that XD

if theres a whole cabudule of loom wires running through that hole don't use it. Especially if it's that tight a fit. You're likely to tear something out if you try and force something through.

FInd another hole, if you can't pierce the bung just knock it out, run your wire through and pack in a whole sh!t load of blue tac. Over time, the blue tac solidifys but still retains a fairly good seal.

i foced out the rubber, pierced it and ran the cable through, then returned it back to its place, it fit and its there even today, 2 years later.

Use electrical tape to strap a biro, pencil or something to the cable, force it through the rubber grommet.

When the biro goes though, run round to your engine bay and pull it through. It does take a bit of force, don't be scared to push as hard as you can, you're not gonna break anything. I have done it in my mates BG and in my own BA.
