Talking Christmas!

hey guys, dual purpose post. firstly to say we should meet again, for a barbie or something with a whole lot of us to celebrate the year gone by and the new year.

secondly I would like to invite you all to my church for a Christmas day service. Everyone takes the holidays, parties but many seem not to give much thought as to why we do... Anyway here is the details, they are short, interactive, involve Christmas carols, various pieces by individuals etc. not a boring old service.

let me know if you would like more information on this

Quote:
A Christmas Story...
Join us at one of our Christmas Services to celebrate the story of Christmas.

You are invited to join us and cel*eb*rate Christ*mas at the fol*low*ing services:

Christ*mas Eve – 6pm and 11pm
Christ*mas Day – 9am (Family services with special Christmas Kid's Activity Packs available)

We would love to see you at one of our Christmas services. We hope that these will be packed out, so plan to arrive early! Parking and seating is at a premium, so we ask that you carpool and avoid saving too many seats in the auditorium.

http://www.kbc.org.au/

Thirdly, what's one memory/tradition from your childhood which is important/exciting/funny etc about Christmas?

mine would be the game of cricket/swim with my cousins after eating way too much lunch.

I have no problems with a Xmas/New Years get together at my place (Sat 29th Dec??) if anyone is interested.

I have a memory of my cousin who died a few years ago in a tragic flood accident in NZ driving his xmas present which was a Tamiya Honda City RC car on the bottom of my uncles swimming pool to see if it worked under water.
It did for about 30 seconds.
My family was under instructions to hide all xmas presents when they came over every year!
They always commented on how crap my presents were because the good ones were hidden.

Christmas day i can't do, but i'll be at downshift on Sunday. Probably wont be back to brisvegas until andy's cruise.

Memory for me, every year we alternate who's house christmas is. Ours and my aunty/uncles/cousins had the pools, so generally it was pretty much at either. So my memories is pretty much just swimming for hours and hours. I remember one year when crazy bones were in (anyone else remember those?) and we would throw them in the pool (with our backs turned) and they sunk. We then dived to collect as many as we could..Who ever had the most won...I remember dad always got the sh1ts because if we missed some it would clog up the barracuda and he'd spend hours fixing it again haha.

I also remember one year when we decided it was a bright idea to put the trampoline next to the pool to jump into, i slipped and cracked my chin open and ended up in emergency getting stitches in my face. (To think of it now, it might of been my birthday, they are both pretty close)

Always down for BBQ at mine after a mod day as well.

Sorry Ryan, I don't do churches man haha ( we discuss this often on facebook :P hahaha)

Best memory from holidays gone by is definetly catching up with all of the cousins and family members and playing a massive game of cricket/red rover/mugby. Also, fresh crabs and prawns!

I think most QLD members will be at the Downshift meet on Sunday

I'll be leaving for Toowoomba straight after work on Monday, and then coming back in the afternoon of Christmas day, and I'll be too full from gorging at 3 different lunches

Most memorable moment would be spending time with my sick uncle down the coast in my parents caravan, as within 2 months he passed away

Down for Downshift! Im away up north for xmas but I will be back for Andrews cruise

Its more a birthday tradition seeing as my birthdays so close to xmas, we go xmas light looking religiously for my birthday. This year Mad Mat got to come alone to my usual Hogs Breath "eat till you can barely fit out the door" dinner and on the way home I got suprisingly lost and stumbled upon the greatest lights ever. They have a sign out the front saying to turn your radio to a certain station and the lights go off to the music! It is amazing!!!! If anyone wants the address PM me.

I was going to suggest a lights cruise but I didn't think people would love 10 loud cars driving through their neighbourhood at night.
