Alarms....

Heya guys..

i was just wondering what is a really good alarm for my lil ol Astina hardtop.. =D

I got a quote for a Rhino 3 point immobiliser with black wiring alarm and central locking motor installed for 600..

and some mongoose alarm for 350 installed ... but i trust the ones that were offereing 600 as the other joint is alittle dodgy =P

what you guys think..

what are some good alarms out on the market ??

I've got a Viper 650XV in my BJ...and I love it I would totally recommend it....I paid 650 for it with an internal siren and a window viper neon which is pretty kool. Excellent upgrades available for it...it's pricy but it's worth it.....

don't go too overboard, when you start getting bells and whistles, it seems to trigger more false alarms, which people in your regular areaa will then ignore, saying oh its that little bastards alarm again....

you can get good alarms from all over the place - point of reference is the alarms jaycar do... they have most of the features you need, such as shock sensor, door, bonnet, and boot protection, optional inputs such as IR detectors, ultrasonics, etc...

simply put, don't rely on an alarm to stop intrusion/theft of your car, but rather the thing that tells you when it has happened...

most importantly, if you don't have one, get a battery back up siren, as this will keep the noise on, after the alarm control box has been discovered

my bro has a jaycar one and it works good. no false alarms ive heard of ( owned it a few years) and if you even put your hand in it (its a sierra soft top) it go's rank. its as much, if not more to do with the install bud! make sure a pro does it and most decent alarms should work fine.
