I'm still running the standard one. Unless your going to be running upwards of 16psi (which isn't possible with standard turbo ecu) there is no need to change it.
If you are planning some big upgrades, i've been told the Walbro internal pumps are an excellent upgrade. If you want something cheaper, the R33 skyline intank pumps can also be fitted quite easily.

Cheers Rob,
I will be running pretty close to standard boost, did you have any problems with the fuel mixtures leaning out at high rpm? I notice you are also in the Newcastle area. Who did you get to do the conversion for your astina and can you tell me any problems they had? Thanks |

Nup, none at all. Especially on stock boost. I've got a dual stage boost controll that was switching to 14psi and I still didn't have any problems with the stock pump. As I said though, I have had a fuel pressure reg.
I bought the car with the conversion already done, but when I bought the car i got it with no engine. I basically rewirered the engine bay and fitted the replacement engine myself. See the BG turbo conversion topic. It was Impact who orginally did the conversion...and all I have to say is DODGEY! They are now called Pulse performance but they are still the same mechanics. The conversion is very simple, especially for you because you have the SP model, you already have EFI. Were you going to get a front cut or just an engine package? If you ever want to catch up, I'm in the forshore area some weekends, but otherwise just let me know.

I have purchased a front cut BG Familia GTX complete excluding the g/box.
In terms of wiring the new ECU in how difficult is that? |

piece of cake. The only thing you have to change is the fuel pump power wire. Other than that it's just all plug and play.
If your going to do it yourself...let me know, cause as I said, I've rewired mine and have found all the tricks with the plugs and wires.

At this stage I won't be doing it myself due to the time factor of being without transport
What about all the wiring for the dash loom? does this simply plug in also? We will definitely have to meet up in Newcastle soon, the half cut arrives today so I am hoping I can get it organised for the install next week. |

Word of advise....all the people in newcaslte that are capable of doing the conversion for you, are all dodgey, take too long, and charge too much.
If you have the right tools and space...you can do it in a w/e all going well. No one in newcaslte will be able to do it in under 2 weeks. I'll put money on it.

I don't feel like going to Sydney to get the conversion done but thanks for the offer anyway.
You may be able to direct me to someone who can provide certification for the conversion? |

Might end up having the car just collecting dust in their workshops. I've been disappointed with alot of mechanics and workshops.
Walbro 400hp intank pump will do the job. Its tiny and fits in easy....but highflow. I'm using one. |

Conversion is complete and the improvement is incredible.
The boys down at "JT Autogas Performance", Jamie and Glen did an excellent job on the conversion for me and were very reasonbly priced. I am happy to recommend them for any one else out looking to do the BP-BPT conversion. If anyone would like their contact details PM me, they are located in Cardiff, Newcastle. The standard clutch doesn't look like it will last long let me know what other people are currently using or some recommendations. Cheers. |

Don't see it as a good conversion if they didn't change the clutch, going to cost you more money in labour now, cause you have to pull the box out. your looking at a couple of hundred bucks when you could of had a brand new one installed at the same time. Made you spend more money for nothing.
thats my 2c's worth. |

They warned me to start with so it is my fault, I was listened to others who said as the clutch is new don't worry about replacing it, obviously in hind site I should not have listened.
Experience is worth it's weight in gold. |

Im using a single plate organic daikin HD clutch which was modified to have a 800kg pressure plate.
Very very smooth to use.
