A ONE OF A KIND CONVERSION.(new photos added)

ALL STARTED 8MONTHS AGO WHEN I LAY MY HANDS ON A MAZDA GTX ENGINE,NOT KNOWING MUCH,I WANT TO PUT THE ENGINE INTO MY MAZDA 323BA,...SO REAL ADVENTURE STARTED.
FIRST OF ALL I FOUND THAT THE ENGINE WAS FROM EARLYS GTXS,1.6 TURBO.88 MODEL
1)TO MAKE THE ENGINE MOUNT ON THE FOOTING OF THE CAR COULD BE VERY DIFFICULT,ALL THE GROUNDS MUST MAKE BY HAND.
2)THE GEARBOX OF THE GTX WAS WITH WIRE ROPE.MAZDA BA IS HYDRAYLIC.SO A CONVERTION TO MAKE GTX GEARBOX WORKING AS HYDRAYLIC.
3)NOTHING FROM ELECTRIC WIRING WAS EVEN CLOSE FROM GTX TO BA.WE DECIDE TO USE A UNIVERSAL ECU,AND PROGRAMMIN OURSELFS
4)THE TURBO OF THE ORIGINAL GTX ENGINE WAS ROTTEN WE DECIDE TO USE A T3 TURBO
5)THE INTERCOOLER WAS SMALL AND WE MADE A CUSTOM.
6)THE MILESTONE WOULD NOT WORK BECAUSE OF THE GTX GEARBOX,CORVERTION MADE TO MAKE IT WORK
7)THE RPM COUNTER NOT WORK BECAUSE COULD NOT COMBINE THE RPM SIGNAL WITH THE NEW ECU.AN ELECTRIC PRINTED CIRCUIT.MUST MAKE.
8)AN UPTAKE FOR THE NEW TURBO
9)AN UPTAKE FOR THE NEW GAS JET
10)NEW GAS PUMP USED
11)NEW CUSTOM MADE EXHAUST SYSTEM(RACING CATALYST...)
12)REAR BRAKES SHOES COVNERTED TO BRAKE DISKS
13)DYNAMO CHANGED

THE PATENT TO MAKE THE GEARBOX WORK AS HYDRAYLIC AND IF YOU LOOK CLOSE YOU CAN SEE THE CUSTOM MADE GROUNDS.

THE EURO 1,ECU THAT WE USED.

THIS IS THE HOLE PICTURE INTERCOOLER...BEFORE WE MADE THE CUSTOM INTAKE FOR THE FUEL INJECTORS ETC...

AFTER MAKING THE INTAKE

MAKING THE CUSTOM INTAKE

END OF INTAKE

AN INSIDE LOOK (PROGRAMING THE ECU...)

CUSTOM EXHAUST

A FULL REVIEW WILL COME SOON WITH THE RESULTS ALSO OF THE DYNO.AND THE BODYWORKS

congrats on the conversion.

If you had picked up the 1.8 BPT instead of the B6T it would have been much easier.

Can you get some more photos ?

me is wondering why you didnt go with the bpt, cause it would have been alot less heart ache and you probably would have a considerabley quicker car.

Anyway goodwork it looks like you have to put alot of time and money in to your car.

yes a lot of money and time..but i believe that the dyno will be kind to me.last time we hit the 210hp with 0.8 bar pressure on the t3.and with the old fuel pump and injectors.now we replace the fuel pump and the injectors and ofcourse reprogram the ecu more air and more fuel running through.with the new program, and done some modifications on the t3 change the shuttle in it.bla bla bla...waiting for the next meeting with the dyno....
i m sure that will be the best hp that you can get from the b6t.

Congrats on the conversion though.

Yea it certainly is a bit of a sleeper… I don’t think anyone expects it to look like that under the hood.. lol. .a turbo maybe but not a V6..
I do plan to supercharge it yet, and turbo charge it if I win lotto..
I just love the ZE..

The engine was already installed into the car when he bought it.

Have a look through Autospeed's archive of articles (atleast 4 years) you'll find a little more info on the car, I can't remember if it said where he sourced the engine or not. I remember when it featured on there...I stole the pics for my old old old ford laser website.

It is only fwd
I didn’t build this one .. it was a friend of mine that has owned the car since new.. he only recently decided to pass her on..
It has the motor from a J-spec probe and the trans from a j-spec lantus. (LSD). .
He did use a front cut for the loom and all, an custom drive shafts..
