Is this another Annual AstinaGT Meet?
The Oktoberfest/Annual AstinaGT Meet is in October, so will it be the Prequel AstinaGT Meet in August? What's happening Rod????? *confuzzled as usual* |

I think it would perhaps be wise to assign event managers for each state similar to FordLaser. This way not everyone is suggesting meets every weekend and we can show some uniformity.
Just a suggestion.

nah i dont think event managers will work. Just let things run the way its been for the past 7 or so monnths. I think its been quite good..
ie. The December cruise to Ulladulla, Jan 31 to Newcastle, now Dyno day. i think the only fizzer was the krispy kreme meet!!!!!!!!! well my 2c worth. |

Mmmmm Oktoberfest, I'm saving my pennies already.
Most important thing IMHO is to support the people who put in the effort of organising these events as they don't just happen. Read the thread, make your opinion known, check your calendar in advance and turn up on time (with you and your car fueled up).

Well I'm up for (almost) anything that's going, motor racing official work permitting. For instasnce I'm at Eastern Creek this weekend and Oran Park the next....
With Kitty as the principal organiser with Aaron, and James as the (less official) "north-based" organiser, it is working out pretty well with some excellent days/weekends having happened. Anything I've been to, I've enjoyed immensely, and the effort from those involved is much appreciated. It would be nice to see the load shared about a bit though (including me as is useful). We will have to do something "bigger" in Sydney than we've had so we can offer some hosptality to those who have offered it to us so well. Mebbe that August date?

I think things are running along quite smoothly in relation to cruises. Generally details are finalised promptly and enough notification is given of dates etc.
I don't think the size of the site and the amount of regular posters requires the inftroduction of event managers as such. |

Event Manager??? Me???
That would imply some sort of REGULARITY to this sort of thing...... instead of the spur of the moment, couple of times a year shindig I am happy to do. Honestly, although there is a lot of work done organising and sorting things out, I don't mind doing it occasionally, but regularly??????? The guys n gals in Melbourne regularly cruise without hassle, and Nate is working on getting the QLD'ers getting together for fun times... ahb11m did a great job on the Newcastle cruise, with Sabrelli being the other partner in crime...... Basically, the more events the better, it gives people choices! We will try not to organise things on the same date to conflict with other people, but the big events get heaps of notification The only reason I worked my tail off with the Dyno Weekend is that I took up that challenge a bit late in the piece.... others were working on it before me until circumstances meant it fell through.... I encourage EVERYONE to have a go..... A local BBQ, a bit of a drive, some bonnet lifting and laughter all makes for a fun catchup with friends from this community we have. An August event is certainly going to be more than welcome to everyone, it is a couple of months away for planning purposes, and then a couple of months after that is Oktoberfest. Get stuck in, get involved and get moving! There is nothing to lose and a lot of friendships to gain!!! I highly recommend it |

Yes, it would also get us Canberra folk out of our own backyard and off to the wilds beyond....
Aaron and I have visited the Melbournites at home, the Queensland mini Cruise at Easter with Nate and Twilight, the Newcastle run with EVERYONE, a few Sydney and Wollongong visits etc... Can anyone say ROAD TRIP? Bring em all on I say!!! |

This is somthing Mal and I were talking about on the way home.
Perhaps we should shoot for somewhere like Port Maquarie or Coffs or Byron. Make it central to NSW and QLD this time.

Aaron and I regularly drive to Coffs Harbour, that's where his parents live
More than happy to do a trip out that way, not sure about taking the itty bitty car though, more like a cruise in Bruce. Port Macquarie is nice, but I will vote for Coffs Harbour. So, who is organiser for this one then? I can offer assistance if Coffs Harbour is chosen, with knowing a bit about the place, Aaron grew up there, and we have the option of asking Aarons sister or Dad to check out places if needs be. We did an awesome run out of Coffs with the XR6turbos too..... Some really nice roads, cheap accomodation at caravan parks which aren't too shabby either...... Can't wait!!! |
