The AC is almost always made by Mitsubishi, and on the BJ 1.8s the ECU is a Mitsubishi unit aswell. It's just one of those things...

Tha'ts Mazda for you Mazda is like Sony they don't make alot what they do make they specialise in.

EG Sony don't make many components but thewy buy many NEC ones
Mazda make engine gearbox cars frames and he like.
but gearboes recently Asian -toyota past autos were Jatco-nissan
electrics are Mitsubishi
speiclised merchanical DENSO - nippon denso - AKA toyota example BOV's
Intercoolers were made by Calsonic - eg Nissan
95% of electrics in mazda have been made by mitsubishi electric for ages.
they specialise in the rotary so that's all mazda.
but it's not uncomon - EG Holden use bosch alot from germany but in the same respect alot from australia got to germany for there cars - both daimler crysler and BMW.

Why should Mazda (and any other vehicle maker) spend the $$$ re-inventing parts that are available from other sources???
Mitsubishi industries make a wide range of products that if they stopped making cars the board wouldn't notice.

Ships, white goods, TVs, earth moving equipment.

I've seen the Mitsubishi mark on silicon chips
