Just out of curiosity, are CF bonnets allowed here? I have heard of cars being defected in NSW for them.

Yeah I know, and that's its downfall.......It would be cheaper out of Japan, especially considering the Euro v AUD conversion is about 1 Euro = 1.78 AUD......ouch.

i pretty sure cf is illegal in qld. just like violet crumble, its the way it shatters that matters.

not it's actually the way it attaches that makes it illegal. but if you have 2 recessed bonnet pins, then it can be approved for road use.

then a SLK would be illegal, its like more than 50% carbon.. all sparco bare back seats are carbon cevlar.. carbon fiber is EXTREMELY strong, but very brittle, like ceramics, like (fiber) glass, like very work hardened steel or high carbon steel but all of those things are legal on a car.. proper carbon fiber kit is made not to shatter on impact with civilians.. u can get it engineered and passed, just like anything else u want. u can put ANYTHING in/on a car within reason and proper clearance and papers..
besides ppl that have unpainted carbon bits on the outside of the car, and not accents im talking whole parts, like kits hoods and boots are douche bags. carbon kits are designed for weight reduction and proper aerodynamics, not for bling.. if u have a carbon bonnet, paint the fukker, noones gonna know the difference except for the scales, or get it engineered and certified
