Question manual gear oil for BA

I've read some of you run your gerbox with a mix of ATF and gear oil. The recommended in the owner’s manual is ATF (M-III or equivalent).!!

If your box is in good condition,What are the positives and negatives of using ATF instead of standard gear oil (75W-90) ,since its the recommended by Mazda?

I bought Castrol Manual EPX 80W-90 for my BG DOHC, was that the right choice to make? The instructions under the bonnet said 75W-90, or 80W-90 for over 10 degrees c. Is there much difference?

i use 75w-90 myself. has lasted well considering the abuse i give it.
Thanks ryan, currently im running on nulon 75W-90 but the shifting is not very smooth even after warmed up. I was thinking to try ATF as recomended.

Maybe i thould try another brand castrol or penrite before changing to ATF

I use Castrol, with a tube of Nulon G70 additive. The additive helps with smoother shifts i find

its pretty much all gears except 5th......gearbox has only done 110,000kms, so must be the oil.

like rupe ....i may give castrol vmx80 a go with nulon additive or roil additive. penrite also have a good range but bit more expensive comapred to castrol
