Depot Tail Lights
I need a replacement tail light for my new SP20... Found these for cheap. Just wondering if anyone has given them a go and can comment on the fitment?

I had depo headlights.
Construction was better than factory... had some metal brackets where oem had plastic. And after pulling them apart recently they use a much better sealant too. Fitment was perfect too

Depo is an OEM supplier to the Chinese 323, but I found the quality for some applications (such as Toyotas) to be crap... poorly sealed and shaped
so you couldn't find any used ones? you can also get MSP ones from the US... the are the only J48 sedans with pink lenses.. they're a little bit different so you must replace as a pair, but they're also brighter as it uses 3 bulbs instead of 1 for illumination

Thanks guys, I'll keep trying wreckers (there's not many J48 sedans around though). Dad busted one last year on his car and it was a huge hassle finding a replacement as most wreckers don't realise there's a difference between the 99-02 and J48 lights

just pay close attention to the J48 lights... the indicator and reverse lights are tinted pink instead of clear like the older BJs
put them next to an older BJ tail light and you will see the difference

I prefer original but I like others have found the Depo aftermarket replacements for Asian models - meaning models sold in Asia. Are a perfect fit etc. Non Asian market cars too many variables at times but a lot better then 15 year ago.
But they also seem to like being attacked. It might be just age but some original stuff especially for older models with GLASS head lamps. they are easier to Modify. Oh but one downside on the plastic lamps - all DEPO units die if you park in the sun often. One summer and on some it's Gone. that's based on a car that was refurbished sold crashed the rear and end front was left out side for 7 months. |
