Gearbox oil change
I've skimmed through the threads that are there but just wanted to check how much oil will I need to refill my gearbox after I drain it? I saw 3 litres mentioned somewhere but is that all I'll need.
I just don't want to drain the box and find I don't have enough to fill it up again and have no way of going to pick up more. Its a V6 323f in case that makes a difference. |

As it says in the sticky, 3L. it's actually 2.86L, but you'll still have to buy 3L.

I finally changed the gearbox oil coz I'm on a weeks holidays. I drove it up on ramps so that only the front of the car was up, drained the old oil out, refitted the drain plug and started to fill it back up again with the front still up on the ramps and the gear box took the full 3ltrs of oil I had bought and wasn't full yet so my brother had to drive me into town to pick up another litre.
It ended up taking 3.5 litres all together but I only thought afterwards is the gearbox supposed to be filled on the level and if so have I over filled the gearbox? |

So should I level it out and drain the excess off or is it ok to just leave as it is?

My gearbox uses ATF (strange, I know). I put Dexron III in it. Wont shift without crunching when cold with VMX80 or similar in it.
So if you get crunching that's probably what's causing it.
