Got a new random question, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to electronics - I'm going to install a car alarm in my car in the holidays, and want to combine it with my central locking, so I can lock the car and arm the alarm by remote at the same time. The car alarm has a negative triggering locking output. Do I need to get something like this, or can I just hook it up to the central locking that came with the car?

Also, the central locking in my car lags a bit, ie it doesn't feel solid, it kinda lacks the responsiveness that was in the SOHC. How can I fix this?

if its lagging it may not be pulling enough power. check the earth, power source and maybe if you're battery is dying.

even if you don't have a negative trigger you can easily make one with a relay. otherwise i'm pretty sure that the BG would be like the BA, which swaps +ve&-VE to operate the door motors, in which case you'd hook it up to the one that goes -ve when it locks and the disarm to the -ve unlock wire.

I know the battery isn't dying, so I'll check out the earth etc when I get a chance.

No chance the actuators themselves are dodgy and old? The car does have 18 years on it.

Can't wait 'til exams are over (25th for me) and I can finally direct some attention to all the niggly little things with the car...

you finish exams late, tafe? i'm done friday.

its unlikely that its the actuators. they tend to either work, die or make obvious faults (sticking, intermittent, grind etc).

Im buying some 18" CX7 rims for the SP20 in a fortnights time, anyways I dont know what size tyre to get for them... Im not sure if I should get 205/35/18's, 215/35/18's, 205/40/18 or 215/40/18. HELP ME OUT!!!

Also where in brisbane/western suburbs would be the best place to get cheap tyres?

Cheers

Thats why i like them, they dont yell bling (well apart from the lip), and they look simple... plus the $1199 incl tyres is damned good. Chose 17's as I didnt want to hinder performance aswell..

Question, on a BA v6 hatch, is there anywhere not requiring drilling/cutting that I can lead the feed pipe to if I go the DIY CAI?

and yes, I'd like to keep the foglights on

But is there any difference/ benefit to having the feed facing forward vs downwards?
