From memory jap imports that came in as parts cars had there vin plate removed. The engine and running gear + vin plate came in one container and the chassis in another. There was a reason why but i cant remember why.

we do it here several times, if you bring a complete car in 1 container you need to get it complied...doesnt matter if you were going to wreck it out it NEEDS to be complied...

Here is what I could find about vin plates:
A vin plate shall be affixed in a manner preventing, as far as it is practicable to do so, removal, replacement or alteration without detection. The VIN plate shall be affixed by welding, tamper proof rivets, hammer drive screws or other method approved by the board. Some how I dont think self tapping philips head screws count. |

i hate to be rude as i hate dodgy people but the jap bg sedans NEVER apart from the Infini came with a Lip over bonnet like the hatch the fellas GTx sedan has the S2 Sedan Grille (i have one on mine) Also Note the Ausie Spec BGs had the seatbelts attatched to the Seat not the exhaust Tunnel i have noticed they are attatched also the Floor indicates it is infact a GTx (note the drivers iner seat rail height after comparing to my FWD bg the rail sits higher up in the awd gtx) again im sorry for being rude but believe me i sussed this car out anc compaired it to my brochure and my BG and another jap bg the colour in the door jams is a tad lighter than the ozzy grey also the push button climate control only came in late bg sedans and the GTX / Grande (i think thats the luxo one) you cant just fit it to a australian bg you need to change the entire front chassis loom.... it is a GTX Sedan.... the other way to tell is ask him to pull the doorcards off and photo the inside of the door - no intrusion bar = jap the only reason i know all this stuff is because apart from putting all the jap goodies in my aus bg i used to work for a mazda wrecker that up untill a few years ago imported Capellas and Familias and festivas lasers etc and have spent great amounts of time in that yard farting around hahaha so thats that it is a jap GTX BUT the seller really needs to grow up you cant just join a forum try to hock a car off abuse people and try and be a keyboard warrior and expect everyone to like you who do you think you are mr roger cordia that and i personally would not buy this one yes its clean but its been molestered...

Not of mrfamilia's GTX sedan or Rogers old car. |

yeah they did make them till 95 ... another thing to consider also
in japan there were other awd Bgs aswell as the gtx you could even get the 1.6 carbie (diferent carberattor to our ausie **** one) in a awd bg pov pak as there were many diferent combinations even a 1.7L diesel Maybe he has used a Non Gtx (but awd body) you had B3 (1.3) B5 (1.5) b5 (Dohc Vics) b62e (different carbie 1.6) B6 Dohc (16V with Vics) (bg sedan GT series 1) BP05 (astina and GT hatch and Infini but only infini in sedans) BPT - Gtx Sedan and hatch BPD - GTR E7? (cant remember)- 1.7L Diesel so really there were alot of models hope that helps

If anyone is still interested in this cars details or import status I suggest this course of inquiry this is what I have done in the past as a final check before buying any Mazda Import
1 date of original manufacture = send a fax to Mazda Japan say this car is currently for sale and you are an extremely interested potential Buyer and want to check on its authenticity and original date of Manufacture .include the Jap Vin number only.and a request that they answer quickly by fax as you dont want to miss out on purchasing the car if it is an authentic Mazda collectable and wait for your reply. 2 Contact DOTARS ph 1800 815 272 wait for the message and press 2 talk to an assessor tell them you want to by the car and Quote the Jap Vin and ask what is its import status wether it was a personal import or low volume complience or parts only car for dismantling DOTARS records go back to 93/94 Ask if these are all the records for Australian imports and how far the records go back. and this way you will find out exactly who was talking Bulls**t in this forum and confirm the facts for yourself but really dont everybody do it just 1 or 2 or 3 of you or they will get the sh*ts with so many phone calls about the same car tying up there valuable time If maybe just a couple of senior members of this forum could do this and post the results The truth is out there |

Further to that...
I rang DOTARS today (yes i was bored at work) to check on that '95 GTX Sedan'. I gave them the correct VIN as listed last on, and was informed that all imports must be given approval by DOTARS (and that they have all the Australian records dating back to when their system was computerised back in the early 90s). The guy i spoke to checked the JDM VIN, and there's no record of it entering the country legally as a personal import, or a parts car. None. Nada. Zip. So...there you go. Make of that what you will.

However if anyone ever reads these posts about these cars I dont think they would be buying them anyway. I suppose thats what happens when you lie when trying to sell a car. Some one is always smarter than you and you might just get caught out. Lesson to be learnt here. IF YOU ARE BUYING AN USED IMPORT GET EVERYTHING CHECKED VERY CAREFULLY It looks like some people didn't before purchasing their cars however. |

There might have been a missunderstanding
Hey guys ill keep it real short.
if you refer to the original document here NRMA: PAGE3 http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=...Su_0R5ydnwjJZA --------------------------------------------------------- Australian compliance Vin ETC THE REASON FOR THE 95 confusions is that the car was REBUILT AND VIN-PLATE WAS ISSUED IN 1995 meaning it is probaly still a 91/92/93 car. ----------------------------------------------------------- it has all been a interesting read guys, thank you. |
