1995 astina drivers side engine mount torque?
Hi all,
Anybody know the correct torque for the DS engine mount on the astina 1.8L DOHC? Both my manuals appear to have a different style mount. It looks like the one below: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MAZDA-323...33faa2c&_uhb=1 Mine is making some noise, its probably buggered but I wanted to check the torque setting first. Thanks |

never bother with torque settings on anything that is bolted to the chassis, tight plus a quarter turn has always worked for me.
that looks like the drivers side mount to me. weird photo angle, but it looks it. |

Righto. After having a decent look, I found the rear bolt attaching the mount to the chassis was completely loose but I cant see a way to get at the nut to hold it. Whats the trick here?
It looks like there is a bolt and nut, and not a tapped thread in the chassis to me? |

I'm guessing there was a nut welded to the underside of the chassis - which has now come loose.
Anyone have some advice? See below, circled in red. Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

that bolt goes into the car no nut to hang off if the bolt wont tighten up could be wrong bolt eg: wrong pitch, the bolt itself could be just damaged or the internal thread is cactus, if the internal thread is knackered drill it out the next size bolt which I think will be a M12 x 1.25 which you will need a 10.5mm drill, the bolt now is M10 from memory so you wont be taking much out of it

I'm pretty sure there is a nut on the other side as I can lift the bolt up about 10mm. I think ill have to drill the wheel well to access it

if you can lift it up id guess the nut was welded and has broken away, you shouldn't have drill holes in your car to tighten a bolt or nut otherwise they wouldn't have been able to tighten it from the production line or there will be a rubber grommet somewhere to get access but I am positive it is a welded nut.
