Come on baby light my Fire

Last week a problem arose and now I am damn confused.
The car was driving well day in day out (bar the rings) and I went to start the car. it was cranking over with no evidence of any attempt to spark (at all)
Young Nate came over as I now had an excuse for a day off, and we started to look over a few things.
The Iridium IX plugs (ZF) were looking a bit squished since their install in Late January and were now sporting about 2mm gap (and I thought wtf). So I couldnt be bothered worrying about that at this point so I replaced them with my old (2 months, 3 month old leads) Stock plugs. Turned the Key.....same problem (all crank, no fire)
Went to the garage and decided to get an old dizzy which was sporting a crack and swap the back plate and cap over (neither had fouled spark points or fouled rotor arm)and then swapped the dizzy over to the car and turned the key........Immediately we had action and the poor thing was idleing away...WOO HOO (with a new KL-ZE engine install in the works, if this lasts me another 10 weeks I will be a happy man)

Two days later..................

Got up for work and abided by my AGT duties, showered got dressed and went to the driveway and turned the key..............(all crank and no fire)
iI figured the dizzy has shat itself again (2 days into my 70 ), so rather than get flustered I figured to catch a ride to work and get a replacement dizzy this afternoon. Rang around QLD and guess what, No dizzy available.
So I rang a guy who specialises in repairing Distributors and sent him both of mine to fix the best one.
I got a call and he said that the one presently in my car was sparking away like mad and was on the insane side of healthy (this is the one which had the cracked plate and cap replaced) and that the oher one was that screwed it wasn't funny (this was the one off my car 3 days prior?????????) He told me to check the crank positioning sensor.
So I took my NEW multimeter down and checked the CPS and at 570 ohms seemed to be OK.

2 days later............The Auto Electrician came around to check my ECU and error codes for the engine.
CODE 11 = MAF is up the duff
Got anothe MAF as they are supposedly extremely temperamental and difficult to diagnose/repair
Turned the key nervously

Cranking/cranking/cranking/fires/stall
Cranking/cranking/cranking/fires/struggled idle(400rpm)/full load (coughs and manages a 800rpm and lumpy as all crap
Can smell a load of unburnt fuel through the exhaust

Today I will be getting "continuation" info for the MAF loom to check this arvo but at present the battery is dying so I will need to charge it back up
But at this point in time I am running uot of Ideas

I'm not an expert on anything ecu driven, but could the O2 sensor be a cause of the bad running? Then again the car would be running in closed-loop so it wouldn't matter, would it?

dunno about your setup - but i know mine will run off manifold pressure, TPS, and CAS

they are the only sensors it HAS to have......

but having said that - you have boost.. that could be an issue

Whoopsie lol me done that before
I changed the MAF over to another and still have the problem so me is getting the sh!ts
I was sure the new MAF would fix the problem, can you picture an Astina driver getting around in an 85 model Fairlaine getting home changing the MAF, putting the key in his ignition with a "this will fix you ya BIATCH", and having that wicked smile slapped from his face as the problem raises it ugly head once more

Yeah I can picture it.
Can you picture an Astina driver thinking "YAY this G15-MR will fix all my auto problems", and then getting home and discovering that the bell housing is different to the F series?
