Angry BA Astina Headlight Replacement

Hi

My headlights are so shocking that I can barely see the road I usually drive on High Beam at night just to see the road, i've tried adjusting the headlights and its still crap. I wanted to change my bulbs but when I looked at the bulb its is a really small one can any one tell me what size it is eg H1 H3 etc...

also has anyone else got the same problem and if so how did they overcome it

Thank in advanced

Hi,

Your driving light bulb is a H3.

take it in when you buy the replacement just to be sure.

in my old BA i had different on each side because one side must've been replaced. - not normal tho

Don't forget that the more light your headlights put out may make it easier for you to see but may also reduce the vision of on-coming drivers.

Ba's before Aug97 have H1's for high beams and H3's for low beams. Post Aug97 have H1's all around.

hmm on reading your last post i have a few things springing to mind

are your globes inserted fully, and solidly in? check by giving the globes a wiggle from the back, they shouldn't move - i think the BA has a funky plastic cover, remove that to check!!!

is your car lowered??

what sort of globes are you running now?

what locations are the lights sucking? - like in built up lit areas, country roads??

how did you adjust your lights?

yeah seems a bit odd that your high beams don't disturb other drivers.. the ba lights are pretty poor but not that poor.

just how bad are your light? have you compared them to any other ba owners?

where abouts are you located?

BA astina is H3 for driving lamps and H1 for high beam i think, well that's what mine was anyway
yer like everyone has said try adjusting your lights, there was this picture b4 that had instructions on what to turn and which way, i used it after changing my globes and it made a big diff along wif the globes

try some Narva +30 globes, and make sure your lights are perfectly aligned - as thats the only way to get them giving a decent spread of light.

also, make sure they're not broken inside - sometimes the adjustment screw mechanism snaps from overadjustment

I'm sure Dogo has posted this in the past. Have a look 'round, I'm sure it was a sticky on the old board.

I have just replaced the bulbs in my ba, and both low beam and high beam were 55 watt H3. Sounds stupid ay! On the topic of HID, I think there is a Narva or Hella kit that is illegal however I have been told that modifications are usually only illegal if they reduce the safety of the car... very interesting
