The antenna is probably just the post has stripped some teeth, pop it out and take a look (unscrew the ring at the top, no need to pull it from the car). If it is you can get a replacement from Strathfield or the like.

Then I can run through installation procedure, very easy.

OK here we go, taken directly from the manual (T2-69)

ANTENNA MAST
Removal / Inspection
1. Remove the mounting nut by using snap-ring pliers as shown.
2. With the ignition switched at ACC or ON, turn the radio switch on, and pull out the antenna mast.
3. Check the end of the plastic rack for damage.
4. If the rack end is kinked or broken, replace the antenna mast.

Installation
1. With the ignition switch at ACC or ON and the radio switched on, feed the new mast into the motor with toothed side facing the front of the vehicle.
2. Turn the radio switch off. While the motor is retracting the rack, feed the mast into the motor.
3. Reinstall the mounting nut.
4. With the ignition switch at ACC or ON, turn the radio switch on and off a few timesand verify the antenna operates smoothly.

and that's all she wrote.

FYI I bought an original mazda mast for only $66 incl GST (part #B05A66A3X) but its a 6 stage mast whereas the one on my 95 BA is 5 stage. Does it fit? I dont know because the nylon rope snapped which brings me to my next question. Is there a way to pull the broken rope out without having to take the motor out? I know i'll probably have to take it out anyway if the mast does not go all the way in.

Oh yeah, i found it easy to remove the nut but using 1 allan key and a crappy test light. Simply stab the test light down so its firmly in one of the holes. Push down and try to turn the nut anticlockwise while using the allen key to do the other hole.
