Spark plugs are always burnt looking cause of the enviroment they work in. Have you checked all the other plugs and if it is a lot worse it could be running a little lean and heating up a bit too much. Which would probably mean the injector isn't quite working properly.

Its usually due to the fuel in a v engine as the # 1 cylinder seems to get a leaner mix due to the single feed fuel rail. The leaner mixture in the combustion chamber will result in more heat. It wouldn't hurt either to go 1 step colder in your spark plugs
As the fuel leaves the rear rail it then zips around the rubber hose and into the front rail and the #1 cylinder gets the raw end of the deal, as the cylinders 3 and 5 start to chase more fuel. The fix is done by taking your ingoing line and attaching a Y piece. You then feed 2 fuel lines to the 2 rails at the front of the engine (cylinders 1 and 2) then allowing the fuel to feed through both rails and out through the rear (cylinders 5 and 6). You then need an adapter to replace the stock fuel pressure regulator so you can then run 2 fuel lines out through another Y piece and into a Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator (RRFPR) then its back to the tank with a single return line and problem solvered. Here is a diagram from one of the guys on probetalk forums Last edited by boostedbatman; 25-01-2006 at 06:20 PM. |

Yeah I never ever considered anything other than a Y piece as it at least will follow direction of fluid flow

Isn't it always good to find it is something as simple as a plug not being on properly. Wish every problem was that simple.

yup. Was checking again with Electron yesterday nite, and tot of using the voltmeter to adjust the TPS since the engine keep running rich.
Then....taaadaaaa....found one extra connector that was not plugged, hidden under the TPS sensor....Damn.... It was the connector for the first fuel injectors. Once plugged in, ran it, rev it till 7200rpm....everything went back to normal. No wonder the engine keep running rich, since the ECU always detected not enough fuel fed to the engine, and keep pumping more fuel..... Simple socket coz big problem...not to mention heartache... |
