Installing sound system to 323 SP20

hey,
just wondering if anybody knows whether it is actually possible to instal sub and amp into the stock system/head unit...
if anybody can help me email me or pm me,

also if any one in adelaide would be willing to do it for me for $$ it would be appreciated, i am not goin to have it done within the next 6 months, as i am waiting till i purchase the car from my parents.

I used one of these in my car:

Running two amps from the factory headunit driving front splits and sub in the boot. Rear door speakers just run off the headunit direct.

Highly recommended!i've got one of them as well but i bought mine direct from Dave Navone. If only i knew someone in oz sold them at the time!!!!

Only thing I can suggest is to Google around for someone selling them. Or, email Mobile Electronics to see when they will get them in stock...

there is also a how to on msprotege for modifying an SP20 head deck to give RCA out...(and replace alot of capacitors and remove some superfluous filters to give a better sound)......its a little advanced and you'll need to know how to desolder and solder to PCB's...if that scares you in the slightest, stick with the dave navone..

haha yeh nah after o-nly reading half of the soldering i think ill stik with the Navone Line Level Convertor lol.
just struggling to find anywere that has them in stock or that even stocks them!!!

Damn, that's a hell of a lot better than the ones from Jaycar that I have in the TX3. The Jaycar ones are only stereo, not front and rear like that one. And they are huge too...

I looked at a few line out converter options from around the place, Jaycar, DSE, JB Hifi etc.. DSE and Jaycar were (from memory) about the same price for stereo as the Navone 4 channel. JB only had a Stinger LOC which we twice the price for 2 channel or they tried to sell you one of the super dooper line out thinga-ma-jingers, which just seemed like a hugely over priced LOC.

The Dave Navone stuff gets a lot of praise on Mobile Electronics (formerly Car Audio Australia) and there are lots of mobile audiophiles on there so it seemed like sound advice. Very happy with the outcome!

I think from memory that my Jaycar stereo/2ch LOCs were $25ea, so they still ended up costing me $50/4ch setup. Meh, I have Jaycar stuff for my amps and misc audio stuff, distribution block, LED terminals, etc, so I can't complain... But I run a Pioneer DEH-2950MP headunit and Infinity Kappa speakers and an Infinity Reference sub.

why not just buy a really good new H/U?...it would save alot of issue's later on down the track and and will give better sound quality straight out of the box, you can get good pioneer ones for a good price these days anyway....

Getting a double din head deck that looks the goods inside BJ is difficult... the stock head deck gives 6 CD stacker, nice milk top knobs and it just works well...

Also, if you are electronics savvy, you can replace alot of the caps and remove some of the noise level filters in the power stage and get the source sound quality up around a high end SQ alpine deck (on MSP theres a how to, with a full analysis of the unit's sound quality once the mods are complete)

The SP20 double din 6-in-dash stacker is great, I have the squarer green-light version in my BJII, and you can also get the silver version of mine from an MX5/Miata, which would look nice in the Shades modells.

It's a great headunit, and it's easy to use. I had a 7" double din LCD thing for a few months, and I had to go back to my 6-in-dash, I missed it that much. Like LW pointed out, if you like to get your hands dirty, you can have a lot of fun with it.
