Heh there's a few over here with 13BT rotaries under the bonnet - they make good burnout cars for events like SummerNats

I had the older one with the round headlights and three door not five, started off with the 1272cc TC engine, then when that passed I changed to the 1490cc D5 then once that expired I had a 1415cc UC with a Webber DGAV carb from a 2 litre TD Cortina.
I couldn't kill it and drove it over 350,000km. Eventually swapped a guy up the street two slabs of VB for it  He fixed the dented front guard and rusty tailgate, gave it a coat of paint and sold it on to someone else  I'd have another one but this time it would have a BP twin cam from an Mx-5 as the engine has the same mounting points  Rotaries fit in them realy well also as the engine bay is identical to the 808/Rx-3, but I like my cars to corner and the 13B puts out too much power for an 800kg car IMO. Glossary Slab - Package of 24 X 375ml cans or bottles of beer. VB - An Australian beer flavoured alcoholic beverage.

ha ha my mum had a viva e coupe! also a 1256cc and in gold. it was shaped like a firenza but didn`t have the twin headlights or rasping engine. my old mazda always got mistaken for a sunbeam which i found quite annoying, not that the sunbeam was a bad `un, especially the lotus version!!! i had a couple of cavaliers in between the mazda`s including a gli 1.8 but don`t think i`d buy another vauxhall.......... except maybe a monaro!!!
and i reckon when it comes to cars, we`re all anoraks!!! my missus thinks we`re all saddo`s! different story when she wants a lift to the shops though eh? |

I helped some mates build one with a 13BT.... Well rather there was this rusted out one sitting around... and this 13BT sitting around.... we were bored etc...
Went ok - however the phrase deathtrap does spring very quickly to mind...

Talking of rust...the old Vauxhalls suffered badly with tinworm in "the olden days" no worse than a ford mind you.....and I've still got a 17yr old bluebird zx turbo in the garage in tidy condition.
Geetee...bet your missus wouldn't take a lift in the old viva now.......ad still like to own one. 8) |

Monaro  It'd be best tossed of the boat shortly after leaving Adelaide. Tip to perspective owners would be to buy the extended, extended warantee.

My fist car was a VK Valiant white with 5 slot kidney mags. Had
a Hemi 265 engine. I spent about a week solid polishing the mags with autosol and they looked lush. Did the fabled old turn the airfilter lid upside down so that it was sucking in heaps more air than with the snorkel which made it almost the fastest car in town to 160km when the V8's would overtake me. But before then had them by car lengths. Eventually ran it into the ground but was a great first car Mal

First two cars where toyotas; one Toyota Landcruiser: had to sell when we moved towards the city, one Toyota Corrola, '91 model, CSX, nice clean car. But now that I have switched over to MAZDA I do not think I will ever look back again. Just hope it keeps up with Toyota's bulletproof reliability.
