Dodgy home theatre off the back of a van...

Those guys are back!

A few years ago a van stopped a bunch of us at the traffic lights in Caulfield. spose we were a good target coz P platers without money don't drive new Clubsports.
They said they had cheap home theatre systems for Cheap.
They had a clipboard with price lists & said they only sell to night clubs, etc.
The gear was reportedly worth $10,800, but they were selling for $2,000.
They even offered us to call their supplier & get a quote for the gear which checked out with their price list.
My mate bought these speakers for 2 grand & 6 months later "A Current Affair" had a show on these guys & an audiophile guy ripped them apart & said the speakers totalled about $400 in value coz of crap quality materials.

Just then 2 dodgy guys & a girl in a Kia Preggio van with a triple M radio sticker on the back window stopped & asked me if i wanted to buy any home theatre gear.
Of course I said no & that "I know all about you guys".
They laughed & said you don't know what it is until you've seen it.
I ignored them & they drove off.

Just a warning to AGT folk to be carfeul as they are a well organised crew selling dodgy stuff.

there was similar thing happening in sydney about 4-5 years ago. only difference was it was operation by police who were trying to pin down a couple of organised gangs who were ripping off warehouses....

I was offered speakers when I was an apprentice (‘bout 18 years ago). I didn't buy them but a few mates did, they failed within weeks.
You gets no warranty from the back of a van and as selling crap is not breaking any law the cops don't care.
Also look out for "they were left over from a job" or "it was a double-up and the warehouse doesn't want them back"
