One step closer to forced induction!

Well today has been an intersting day, we found a familia gtx half cut for sale at $2000. Not quite sure it has the gearbox. (not sure ill need it anyway as i already have the 'g' series gearbox). It's done 108,xxxks, and looks to be in neat condition. Im looking at spending maximum $1500 for the install.

The only trouble im havin is finding a place that will install it!, i found a few places but they didnt appeal to me much at all

one said $2000 for just a basic swap
(just jap) one said $2000 for the swap (including front mount, bov)
this other place said $4000+ (including front mount, bov)

and allo three of them suggested that I do the swap over myself!!!!

hmmm what to do????? and sugestions anyone??? anyone know of a decent workshop???

thanks in advance -ryan

Moved.

you won't need the box, as the GTX is AWD. But you can probably get $500 for it as people are always breaking them!

yes i know of a good shop on the sunshine coast, but you will have to get your car up here, and it will not be able to be start until new year.

sure am...

Cars in bits at the moment, engine is arriving tommrow.

Can I recomend doing it yourself dude? Even if you pay for tools like I have, its cheaper then the labour and its not all that hard. Get a mate who knows his **** to help you and you could probobly do it in 2 weeks.

2 WEEKS!!!
i will have my conversion done in 1 weekend running ready for the dyno.
what were you doing for it to take 2 weeks?

The conversion is easy man if you got some mates that like a project that have a bit of know how on cars you should have no probs doing it.
Why are you buying a halfcut out of curiosity??

Thats right... I stole ur engine... :O :P

Where do you live btw man? I dunno how willing nate will be to help you after my conversion, but if your in brisbane I might be able to source some mates to come help you do it yourself. The club helped me put mine in and in doing so saved me lots of money, so I guess what go's around come's around.
